So now we know. The reason Kelowna area abortion supporters are opposed to the release of information statistics is, well, because some nasty folks exercised their rights in a democracy and opposed the opening of a Planned Parenthood clinic in Kelowna.
Wow. Donna Campbell writes:
Ted Gerk is quoted as saying We live in democracy. There should be no topic that’s off limits for discussion. He’s referring to the restrictions to abortion statistics, but I’d like to remind him of his effort to impose limits on information available to the public regarding family planning (thus abortion prevention).
In the early 1990s, he and his followers picketed a meeting at which a group of us met with a representative of Planned Parenthood to merely learn more about their model for a proposed clinic locally.
Then, in 1995, when the local Planned Parenthood Clinic finally opened, he and his followers came out in force to oppose the clinic. Was this not his attempt to impose limits on what could be discussed?

What is truly amazing about Donna Campbell’s letter, is that somehow she sees people that exercise their rights in a democracy to protest, as an act of censorship….and this somehow legitimizes her support of censorship of abortion information.
That Planned Parenthood is hardly an example of non-biased abortion-related information, can’t be dealt with here. Suffice to say that once again, abortion cheerleaders simply cannot grasp basic concepts of democracy.
What this is really all about, is the right to oppose abortion using factual information and data. Material that is banned in British Columbia. Abortion supporters advocate for the continued ban chiefly because they don’t want abortion talked about or debated.
They just don’t get it. But they will advocate and support democratic rights being taken away, all in the name of “choice”.
